Support Your Favorite Start-Up!!

By superadmin,

Hey guys! Not sure if you’ve noticed on our social media outlets but yesterday was the launch of our Fundable campaign. With beach trips and pool parties upon us, what better time to lock in on Premium FIT Radio for a sweet price than now? We are giving our users the chance to support a company they believe in… US! If you go to our page www.fitradio.com/fundable you can see that there are multiple ways to show just how much you care 🙂 Pledging up to $60 gets you a lifetime of Premium FIT Radio. Yea, a lifetime. For-Ev-Ver (name that movie). What do you own that you know will last that long? We’ll put it in perspective for you:

Yea and we heard that there was a re-call on Lulu Lemon Yoga pants because they were too revealing. Just in case you all didn’t do your downward dog test before sporting them at the gym. So you’re already spending at least $60 to keep that fine body of yours in shape, why deprive your workout of the only thing that keeps it going? We’ll be your motivation if you’ll be our monitization 🙂 Help us expand and be the best app we can be. The proceeds from Fundable will go toward helping to keep FIT Radio ad free, adding new and exciting features, and expanding to multiple platforms.

First Chalene Johnson & now Living Social?!

By superadmin,

If you consider yourself an avid FIT Radio listener, then you probably already “Like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, our two most widely used and constantly updated Social Media avenues. The two places where you can see us post everything from the finished product of the promo video:

…to the exciting mention we got from self-made millionaire and Beach Body/ P90x partner-in-crime, Chalene Johnson:

(both of which we are super proud of and love when you share them with your friends 🙂 that wasn’t me being coy that was me blatantly trying to entice you to share, just bein’ honest)

So you can imagine our awe and excitement with the new year as Living Social adds us to their list of deals! The app is ready for the public and what better platform to launch with than the crazy, fun company that brings the party everywhere they go? Consider them that one friend you have that can always get “the hook-up.” For example: spending $18 instead of $36 on a 1 year premium subscription to a great music app to keep you and your posse moving all day long. Sounds to me like we could all use a friend or two like that 🙂 So spread the word and be the friend who gives the scoop on the best app you can buy for the new year!

Getting to Know Our FIT Radio Users: Scott Stewart, Pro Wakeboarder

By superadmin,

Scott Stewart
Pro Wakeboarder

From Springville, Ca
Currently residing in Auburndale FL

” I hope to bring the realization of what is real and what is Hype!! I want riders who work hard and ride well to get recognition for doing so.” – Scott

Favorite Motivational Quote:
“As you think, so shall you become”
-Bruce Lee

How do you use FIT Radio? I enjoy music almost all day to stay motivated and pumped up to train as much as possible, and FIT Radio get me there!

Describe your typical day? Typical day at home usually is waking up, making a healthy breakfast and tea while catching up on emails and my web pages. Then I start warming up the body by rolling (using a foam roller) and performing dynamic stretches before I go ride. Head to the gas station to get gas for the day, and then come back to the house to start riding. Usually ride once or twice. If I don’t ride twice, I usually make it to the gym. Then I fuel up with some lunch, and train or ride again. Then when I am done riding I make dinner and rest for an hour or so. After digesting I do some form of yoga nightly to stay loose for the next day usually while watching t.v.

What makes you stand out? I feel my style of riding, of going big in the flats while incorporating tech tricks helps me stand out. Also my training and work ethic towards wakeboarding, it’s kinda unorthodox.

What is your favorite wakeboarding move? To me the simple moves seem the most fun! But doing them big and poked out makes them feel so good! My favorite trick is a backside 180 in the flats, or a switch backside 180 in the flats. Love it!

Where is your favorite place to wakeboard? Lake Powell. Lake Powell is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, it’s gorgeous!!

How do you train? My training depends on the day and what it consists of. If I ride multipul times a day, I will just foam roll and do yoga to loosen my body after intense riding. If I only ride once or not at all, I am in the gym training high intensity workouts, building explosive fast twitch strength. I usually do circuit style training, but I change it up every month or so. And always end training sessions with cool down yoga 🙂

What do you plan to do to grow wakeboarding into new industries? I want to push my riding, doing new things in a different way and have them be seen. To introduce the public to what wakeboarders are really doing. I want to do film projects with outside industry networks to showcase wakeboarding to the masses. Also put on events that exposes wakeboarding to new crowds.

What is your favorite time of day to wakeboard and why? best time is anytime after 11am, haha. It takes a little bit for the body to wake up and get motivated after previous days of riding and training intensely.

Do you travel a lot? If so explain where/why? I travel quite a bit! In the last 2 months, I have been home 6 days of those 2 months. I travel a lot due to sponsor obligations, appearances, signings, shows, photo shoots, and video shoots. Its mainly all over the U.S as of now.

Why do you love wakeboarding? I love riding! Since the day I started! It takes me out of the head. Puts me directly in the moment, where nothing else matters except what is happening in that moment. And I love that!

What is your goal in life? Happiness and Happiness of others!

How do you live differently than most pro wakeboarders? Diet, physical training, Coaching, Sports Phycology,  no alcohol.

What is your favorite type of music? Anything that compliments the moment! But a lot of the times, real HIP HOP!

How old were you when you jumped your first wake? I was probably 14? It was the first day I ever tried wakeboarding.

Describe the feeling of landing your first jump? My first jump was actually no big deal to me. I had grown up snowboarding and doing way bigger airs than that at the time, so it wasn’t that big of a deal to me. But landing my first flip was when I got stoked, and was addicted to riding from then on.

Why did you become a pro wakeboarder? It wasn’t really a choice. It came to me out of necessity. It help mold me to what I am today.

How do you stay energized? Natural ways or products. Yoga, diet, music, USPLabs supplements, Organic teas (Yerba Mate) love that stuff!!

What is your favorite wakeboarding gear? Favorite gear is probably my HYPERLITE System wakeboard bindings!! I no longer have to worry about heel or toe lift, or tweaking my ankle. They provide the best support out there, period!

Are you an only child? If not, what do you siblings do? I have a sister, Julie who is awesome!! And she is expecting a boy soon, and I couldn’t be more exited!! He’s gonna come stay with me and learn to ride!!

Have you ever gotten injured while attempting a move? Yes, after doing a basic double flip, I started working on variations of that double flip that has never been done before, and got pretty broke off while working on it. Took me out for a little bit.

What motivates you to stay on track and work hard? Everything I have accomplished up to this point, and how much I have left to give back to the world. It’s not a conscious thing, it comes naturally, just something I have to do right now. I wake up in the morning knowing that this is what I need to do. Life’s too short not to go after what you want.

What are competitions like? There not my cup of tea at the moment. I respect it and know it is necessary. I would just like to see the courses get bigger, and riders be rewarded for going bigger and faster. I know it would grow the spectators appreciation.

I would just like to thank everyone who has ever supported me. God, My family, friends, Coach Scott Harwood, and Trainer Chris Christoff. All my Sponsors, Chuck at Buywake.com, Ambush boarding co, Hyperlite Wakeboards, and Usplabs supplements.

If you want it, go and get it, Now!!

Thank you, Scott, for doing this interview with us! Photo props go to Ryan Taylor!

WIRED & Ready To Go!

By superadmin,

Aaaand we are back with more FIT Radio music news!!  So, last week we posted about about the ZUMBA Station, and this week we’re all about informing you fine people about the WIRED: Sport Specific Station. This station was inspired by an article our Music Director came across in WIRED Magazine that discussed “Sport Specific” music and how listening to the correct BPM (beats per minute) can enhance your workout. For example, listen to an upbeat Top 40 hit during a spin class; WIRED suggests something along the lines of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” which boasts 129 BPM. For a longer, less concentrated intensity workout like distance running, your ears might find something a little less Top 40, more appealing, such as an Indie Dance mix featuring artists like Daft Punk and Foster The People. In a nut shell, this article reiterates what we already knew deep down in our guts: “listening to upbeat music when you workout not only causes you to push harder, it also distracts you from knowing you’re doing so.” Lucky for you, we’ve done all the work and have designed mixes of multiple genres and BPMs for your workout listening pleasure. Don’t be scared to use us outside of the gym too, we like it 😉

Hey readers! If you are an avid FIT Radio listener like we hope you are, you already know we have had a station specifically designed for the ZUMBA workout enthusiasts; however, we have yet to get down to the nitty-gritty about who’s involved and our hopes and goals for the station. The station has blossomed tremendously with the growing popularity of the app and we are being approached and contacted by the best ZUMBA dj’s out there! Currently, DJ Neonglass is our hero right now. He is dominating the FIT Radio ZUMBA scene and generating some serious excitement in the office. We just can’t stop dancing!!

In the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought it would be a great idea (since there are so many races, walks, etc etc dedicated to the cause) to make a “Save the Tatas” station on FIT Radio! We’ve compiled a list of inspirational female artists for your listening pleasure. Think Lady Gaga meets Shania Twain meets Whitney Houston. Yeah, we went there. Currently we have an upbeat fast mix for a hard workout and a slower mix perfect for a cool down. Check it out on your iPhone, Android, or web! –>> http://fitradio.com

Everybody's Workin' For The Weekend!

By superadmin,

So, living in the city of Atlanta is awesome, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in GA, but lately the spike in gas prices within city limits is getting  a little ridiculous.

My first thought was, “Dang, I thought gas prices went down during election season?!” And then it came to me after a couple seconds… gas prices go up when there is a big holiday coming…Oh my gosh, Labor Day Weekend is almost here!! With the summer winding down, people are scrambling to get everything done at work before the long weekend. So here at FIT Radio, we want to keep everyone entertained on the last warm 3 day weekend holiday. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to depress you or wish away Summer (hell to the nah) but I looked at my calendar and then next “official” holiday (meaning not National Handstand Day, Jill Hanner! :D)

is Columbus Day which isn’t until the 2nd Monday in September, vom. So we absolutely have to enjoy our last warm weather hoorah. The mixes will provide you with the standard “Manic Monday” track list, along with other fun party mixes that will definitely pump you up to make sure you end your summer with a bang! you can find all the mixes under the Labor Day Station on http://fitradio.com

Minor mistake: Reggaeton is actually pronounced reggae- tone. My sincerest apologies to anyone that was offended by my mispronunciation.

A Weekend With Warrior Dash

By superadmin,

FIT Radio was hired to MC and DJ the Warrior Dash Georgia Event this past weekend. For those of you who don’t know what the Warrior Dash is, I would highly suggest checking it out here! In short, it’s a 15-45 minute race (depending how fast you are) through obstacles that involve walls, tires, mud, electricity, ropes, water, and even fire!

My favorite part is that the race was pup-friendly! There were dogs just CHILLIN everywhere!

A Word of Advice: Pay attention to what you wear underneath your clothing! That mud is like an x-ray machine (girls, this is not the day to wear your granny panties – I would suggest boy shorts and would definitely recommend a slightly padded sports bra)! There were some grown men wearing tiny speedos (no judgement here – rock on!), but if you aren’t the type of person who wants to show everything, plan ahead!

At the end of the race, there is food, beer, loud music, and an awards ceremony featuring the best costume and best times. A lot of people dress up for the race, which is always fun!! My favorite costume was a lady in a white wedding dress – which was completely covered in mud by the end of the race!

Everyone seemed to be a HUGE fan of group dances (like The Wobble and Cupid Shuffle), and it was very interesting to watch everyone dance together, all covered in mud, with warrior hats on! 🙂

The Warrior Dash is held in over 50 locations all over the World; Georgia was only the 5th event or so this year, so check out their website to find a location near you!
