Recap: Night Nation Run Los Angeles with Fit Radio DJ Kerry Glass

Last week Fit Radio DJ, DJ Kerry Glass took to the Fit Radio stage at Night Nation Run in Los Angeles – The World’s first-ever Running Music Festival.

We had a chance to sit down with Mr. DJ Kerry Glass about the event and here is what he had to say:

Q: How was your overall experience DJ-ing at the Fit Radio Stage at Night Nation Run in LA?
A: My experience was amazing from the time I arrived until the time I left. The entire Night Nation Run staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. The crowd was probably one of the happiest and most excited crowds I have ever seen in my life. 5 Stars!
 
Q: What was different about performing at this event?

A: The ENERGY from the crowd was insane throughout the entire event. Whatever interaction you gave to the crowd, they would give right back to you ten fold.

 

Q: Would you recommend our Fit Radio Fam take part in the NNR events?
A: Everything about NNR was AWESOME! From their friendly staff, to their impressive stage production to the incredible audience. I 100% recommend in taking part of the event and hope to be a part of it again in the years to come. NNR Rocks!

Fit Radio DJ Spotlight: DJ Euphoria

This week, we had a chance to sit down with DJ Euphoria and ask him a couple questions. Here is what he had to say:

 

1. How would you best describe yourself in three words?

Honest , Friendly, and Ambitious.

 

2. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?

It was picture day in middle school and my mom decided she was going to start cutting my hair herself. Let’s just say, I came out looking like I went to a blind barber. She still made me go to school wearing a hat, but little did she know hats weren’t allowed at school. (Like I told her!) I got called so many names that day and ended up getting my head shaved completely bald. We didn’t purchase the pictures that year. 😉

 

3. Who is or was your celebrity crush?

Shailene Woodley

 

4. If you could read minds, whose would you want to read?

DJ AM – his music selection and live mashups were unreal. A true legend.

 

5. What is the most important thing to you when you make a mix for Fit Radio?

I always put myself in the user’s shoes. I make sure that a listener would love to listen to the mix over and over and look forward to more.

FIT Radio’s primary purpose is to provide our listeners with up-beat mixes that motivate
our users to keep moving in an energetic and positive direction. Currently, we at FIT
Radio ask our users to take just a few minutes to help keep us moving in a direction to
better serve those who enjoy our app and the artists that make our content so incredible
and unique. We respectfully ask our listeners to contact their representatives to
support the Internet Radio Fairness Act.
Ever since the Internet and music have crossed paths, this union has invited a stream of
contention and conversation between listeners, musical artists, music providers, and of
course, the federal government. This ongoing conversation primarily centers on how
music providers should compensate musical artists for playing their music. In other
words, the issue of how to handle royalties has dominated the discussion. Unfortunately,
these royalty stipulations placed on Internet radio (including FIT Radio) providers
hinders their ability to play the songs and artists you know and love. Even worse, the
rigors of royalties may prevent you from enjoying up-and-coming artists that FIT Radio
features.
Presently, royalty restrictions place discriminatory and outdated penalties on Internet
radio providers that somehow escape the satellite-based SiriusXM. For example, last
year alone, SiriusXM only had to pay 10 percent of their revenues to artists, while the
Internet-based Pandora shelled out a staggering 50 percent of their revenues to artists.
Yes, royalties took up half of Pandora’s revenues, and FIT Radio is under the same fire.
This glaring difference is solely due to outdated royalty laws. Changing these unfair laws
is not only crucial to our existence and your enjoyment of the music we play, such a
change is now finally possible.
All you have do to is take a few minutes to call, email, or even Tweet your representative
(insert name and link here) to support the Internet Radio Fairness Act. Doing so will not
only help us continue to create the mixes you enjoy, contacting [your representative] will
help aspiring talented artists to have their music heard.

We are fixing bugs as soon as they come up, but if for some reason you come across something, please let us know. Just follow the SIMPLE steps below.

My name is Dirk and I’m going to help you help us make FIT Radio as close to bug free as possible. With any new app, there are going to be bugs. Last I checked, FIT Radio is available to over 746 Android devices. Wow, that’s a lot. Now, we test on a lot of devices, but it’s impossible to test on every single one. The first step you should take is to make sure you have the latest version of FIT Radio. We put out updates every few weeks.

If you’re having trouble while the app is running, there’s a very quick and easy way to submit a bug. Recreate the problem, Hit Menu, then Submit Bug. Simple as that. The app does all the work of collecting the log, phone model and setting up the email. All you have to do is describe the problem… in detail. 🙂

The premise of my blog posts will basically involve me morphing into a guinea pig and trying out any compelling articles that I come across while tweeting for FIT Radio. These articles feature fun undertakings, such as getting a workout while working at the office by sitting on an exercise ball (to improve posture and strengthen your back/core). This is exactly what I did for an entire week last week! I made notes throughout the process as to how I was adapting to my new fangled “office chair”, and (I have to admit) I am thrilled that the experience of the balance ball is no more.

Looking back at my notes from Monday, I thought it was going to be a piece of cake… maybe even a little fun. Psh! When I got to the office that morning, I pumped up the ball with excitement and looked forward to regaining the posture I had in the days I danced ballet. Dirk, our tech guy, was pretty jealous and kept trying to (unsuccessfully) steal my ball throughout the day.

Some notes I made included, “It might not be a good idea to cross your legs, Cari”. I also jotted down that my back muscles were definitely engaged after the first hour, and by the end of the day, I was convinced I was getting SOME kind of workout (my back was feeling pretty sore and as the hours passed, the harder it got)! The week went by just like the last couple hours of that first day, slowly. It worked my back from between the shoulder blades to all the way down my lower back. However, there were no feelings of soreness in the abdominal region (sad, I know). “TGIF!” We have a shorter workday on Fridays, so when 4:45 PM rolled around that day, I was pumped to trade in the ball for a chair with actual back and arm rests (you really don’t know how much you miss something until it’s gone).

Next time, I will just incorporate the balance ball every so often instead of multiple days in a row. I am happy to report my posture has improved! I sit up straighter at my desk and my posture is even better when I walk. Today, I finally let Dirk have the balance ball; he was already back in his chair after 2 hours! 😉 Ha!

We work together as a team, but within our team we have the perfect array of people and personalities, which we believe will make for very interesting blogging. We are all extremely busy, but we have decided to each take an hour or so out of the week to share our lives and information with the people we love the most, our users. This blog will take you behind the DJ Booth at one of the best nightclubs in the country, to a music conference in San Francisco, to keg-stands at a local fraternity house, to the streets of Vegas, to a meeting with Pauly D, and so on. Not only will we take you places, but we will teach you things (maybe even as we learn them) about Music, Technology, Fitness, Health, Business, and Media.
