FIT Radio is a fan of the music festival and the season is in full swing now…
Bonnaroo, Ultra, Coachella, or SXSW… you name it and at least one person from our FIT team has attended. Festivals have exploded in the last decade by building a cult following of fans that attend year in and year out to see all their favorite artist. Soon we hope to be sending FIT Radio representatives to all of these festivals with our own FIT promo tent to spread the word about this awesome app. Last year, in FIT Radio’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, the city announced the return of the popular annual Atlanta festival Music Midtown. The year of its resurrection was full of “bands of the future,” said long time Music Midtown coordinator and promoter, Peter Conlon. This year, Music Midtown will feature a more diverse line-up bringing in a couple hip-hop artists to the mix. Whether it’s the ten-day SXSW festival or the two-day Music Midtown, you can bet that FIT Radio will be in attendance, because it’s events like these that showcase all the great artists of today. We take the experience that these great music festivals offer music enthusiasts like us and bring it home to our app to provide our users with the best content from around the world.
Each week we feature a celebrity fitness routine that we find to be easy, realistic and actually do-able because let’s face it, not many of us can afford a personal chef, a personal trainer and multiple trips to the gym to workout everyday; we have lives that don’t revolve around movie roles unfortunately. This week, Jennifer Love Hewitt offers great advice on positive thinking, handling peer pressure and putting a spark in your workout routines via Shape Magazine!
It’s that time of year again where we celebrate a little holiday called Cinco De Mayo. Funny thing is, it isn’t even really a significant “holiday” in the Mexican culture. Most think that it is Mexico’s Independence Day but you are ill informed. Their independence day is actually September 16th. But, we American’s like to find any excuse to party and hang out with friends. So, in honor of this seudo holiday, we’ve gathered some fun recipes and ideas for everyone in case you wanted to throw a crazy fiesta tomorrow of your own!
24 CINCO DE MAYO FOOD, ACTIVITIES, AND PARTY IDEAS TO MAKE
SAY OLÉ: 12 HEALTHY MEXICAN RECIPES FOR CINCO DE MAYO
A video we found from one of our users… and we pinky swear he is not a paid actor! 🙂
And we are also mentioned in @KerriOlkjer‘s Spring Edition of “Things I’m Loving Right Now”
And a great write up by Metova in their Mobile Mashup!
As some of you may know, the trials and tribulations that come with beginning a start-up company are never ending, but it’s not without a silver lining. It’s easy to get caught up in deadlines and what seems like chasing the light at the never ending tunnel but the praise we receive daily from our users, followers, and fans alike is what keeps us motivated and excited to provide an app so many can enjoy. Thanks for the love and support! We hope to continue to give you reasons to share FIT Radio with everyone you meet.
We have been one of the chosen teams to participate in the 2012 Red Bull Soap Box Race here in Atlanta and tonight is the night of the unveiling of all the teams soap box car sketches. A couple members of the FIT Radio team are going to see who we are up against and scoping out the competition. It should definitely be interesting! Check out these videos from previous Red Bull Soap Box Race events to get an idea of what we’re planning on seeing a mere glimpse of tonight…
And here are some pretty gnarly crashes we’re somewhat looking forward to as well…
So we aren’t sure about you guys, but sometimes eating healthy can be kinda tricky. That is why this week’s DIY/How To post is about how to make Spaghetti Squash! You know that healthy Spaghetti pasta alternative everyone has been going crazy about!? Well we found a great How To on one of our favorite sites, Dashing Dish which is a website packed with healthy alternatives of classic comfort foods. To some, just trying new foods is a big step let alone actually making them. That is why we feel that the best and easiest way to get people interested in trying new healthy recipes is to show them how easy they actually are to make. After seeing it for yourself you’ll be saying, “Spaghetti Squash is a cinch!”
I’m sure you all have seen this type of article at some point in time, “How to Prevent ‘this’ during the Summer”, “Stay hydrated”, “Don’t workout at this time of day”, yada, yada, yada. However, since it’s been several months, and it really doesn’t hurt to stay knowledgeable about being healthy, why not make time for a little refresher course?! With the hot weather quickly approaching, it is important to know the signs and risks of working out in adverse climates. Signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration are somewhat easy to identify but have you thought of just how the humidity and smog alone can affect the way your body’s ability to exert itself in higher temperatures? All the negative things that come with outdoor activity can all and should be prevented. Here are a few tips we found from Woman’s Day Magazine to help keep you informed and prepared for your next outdoor workout (and this applies to everyone, not just the ladies!)
Whatever outdoor workout you choose, keep it fun. It’s the Summer time and it is not to be wasted on monotonous and boring activities!
The new Romantic Comedy, “The Five-Year Engagement” starring Emily Blunt hits theaters this weekend and we are pumped to share the leading lady’s outlook on fitness and living a healthy lifestyle from one of our favorite sites, fitsugar.com!
It’s as simple as staying positive, having fun and indulging when you want to as long as you’re smart about it. Could it be any easier? We don’t think so!
Trance Music: part of speech: n a genre of music, esp. electronic, that is hypnotic and suggests trances; any trance-like or trance-inducing music used for ritual or spiritual dance
The moment you all have been waiting for has arrived. With so many requests from our users to add a Trance genre to the FIT Radio app, we had to oblige. If you aren’t familiar and are not really sure what Trance music is, the definition above says it all. It’s music to get you moving and keep you moving. With a tempo between 125 and 150 beats per minute how could you not? Pair that kind of energy with a mesmerizing show of lights and you’ve got yourself a trance show. Trance isn’t just about the beats and the music, the atmosphere adds so much to the genre that when when people hear the word Trance, they not only envision the famous artists that come to mind like Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren, but the crowd, the lights and the movement that surrounds you when you go to a Trance like show. So, naturally we wanted to integrate that kind of life and fun party mentality into the FIT Radio app! So bring Trance to your next house party or gym session and you won’t be disappointed.
Recently while using Stumbleupon.com I stumbled upon (no pun intended) a website called Punchfork.com. Punchfork is a website that consists of recipes that are put up by certain food sites such as; Bon Appetit, 101 Cookbooks, etc… It takes it one step further and features the most highly talked about recipes through social networking. You can search certain dishes, ingredients, publishers or bloggers. Punchfork also allows you to filter certain dishes by selecting vegan, vegetarian, all diets, or gluten free. This site is so full of fascinating and unique recipes! Some of the tastiest recipes I’ve found include: Mac and Cheese Cupcakes, Nutella Caramel Hazelnut Brownies, and Grilled Bruschetta Chicken!
Macaroni & Cheese Cupcakes
Nutella Caramel Hazelnut Brownies
Punchfork also allows you to create your own profile where you can sign in and save your favorite dishes. Comment and let us know what you think of Punchfork!! I know what I’ll be eating tonight, what will all of you be eating?
