So maybe you’ve heard my northern, British tones coming at you through your headphones on the Fit Radio app, and you’re thinking ‘Where did this Cardio Coach come from?!’ Well, here we go!
I’m Emily, I’m 25 and I just moved to ATL, from a small town near Manchester called Preston, my partner got a job here and we decide to take the plunge and move across the pond, setting up life in Atlanta! We’ve been here about 10 months now, and I love the weather, the food, the awesome fitness experiences I’ve come across and the incredible people I have met. It’s a lot different from ‘home’ but I love it!
When did Fitness go from a hobby to a career?
I was that girl at school, that didn’t do sports, or exercise because it wasn’t my thing. I did drama, and Spanish, and sat around on the grass making daisy chains with my friends. But when I was about 17, I started going to a group exercise class with my mum, I went once a week and LOVED it. It was actually fun- something I hadn’t experiencing whilst doing exercise before – I fell in love with the group aspect, people working out together, sweating together and pushing each other. From there, I got the bug. Fitness became a huge part of my life. I decided at age 23 to finally get certified in one of the programmes I loved. I then started to pick up classes and decided this was something I could actually do to make a living!
The 9-5
My background is in fashion – my degree was Fashion Communication, which was marketing, journalism and digital media. I enjoyed Uni, but I didn’t LOVE it. I went home a lot, I worked a lot of part-time jobs, and I didn’t fully commit to my course or the ‘student lifestyle’. I bounced from marketing job to marketing job, feeling unfulfilled and like I didn’t have any strengths that would turn into a career, I didn’t know where I was going to work, or what I was going to do.
Once I started to take on more fitness classes and got certified in a few other programmes that I loved, my client base built up a lot quicker than I thought. I realized THIS is what I should be doing, and was what I loved, so I went into work the next day, quit my office job and took the risk. I’m so glad I did.
Why I love FitRadio
As a coach and a fitness instructor sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation to actually do your OWN workouts, because you spend all day coaching others in the gym, sometimes you can’t go back and find your own inspiration. Which is why FitRadio is such a great tool for everyone – for people that do fitness full time like me, I still sometimes need that push from one of our awesome coaches, and I still get challenged. But it’s also perfect for that person that’s never worked out before EVER. They can ease their way in, they can find the right workout, with the right coach and they can make their exercise routine enjoyable. Across the board – professional athlete or a complete rookie. We got ya.
The Why
Exercise is truly life changing and I honestly believe that (as cheesy as it sounds) it is a powerful tool that everyone should implement in some way, into their lives. For me, exercise is less about the physical and more about the mental. It can change the way your day goes, it can de-stress, re-energize, and uplift you in ways you perhaps didn’t think was possible. The hardest part is getting out the door, BELIEVE that! Because once you’re out, and you’re going, it will feel so good and so amazing you will never want to stop. So find your “why”, find your reason and channel that energy into your run, or your walk, or your bike workout. It starts with a positive attitude and some willpower, and we’ll help you every step of the way!
Workout with Me!
Come and get your cardio on with me! As a Fit Radio Cardio Coach, we can make it fun, I’m there with you every step of the way telling you what’s next, and what to expect and how we can get through it together. Cardio CAN be fun! Yep, DING DING, I said it, it CAN be fun! Think about the end result, and your end goal and how Fit Radio can help you get there. I’ll help you work through the hard times, you’ll be flying through these workouts, and that British accent will be there pushing you through in no time!!
