I’m sure you all have seen this type of article at some point in time, “How to Prevent ‘this’ during the Summer”, “Stay hydrated”, “Don’t workout at this time of day”, yada, yada, yada. However, since it’s been several months, and it really doesn’t hurt to stay knowledgeable about being healthy, why not make time for a little refresher course?! With the hot weather quickly approaching, it is important to know the signs and risks of working out in adverse climates. Signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration are somewhat easy to identify but have you thought of just how the humidity and smog alone can affect the way your body’s ability to exert itself in higher temperatures? All the negative things that come with outdoor activity can all and should be prevented. Here are a few tips we found from Woman’s Day Magazine to help keep you informed and prepared for your next outdoor workout (and this applies to everyone, not just the ladies!)

Recently while using Stumbleupon.com I stumbled upon (no pun intended) a website called Punchfork.com. Punchfork is a website that consists of recipes that are put up by certain food sites such as; Bon Appetit, 101 Cookbooks, etc… It takes it one step further and features the most highly talked about recipes through social networking. You can search certain dishes, ingredients, publishers or bloggers. Punchfork also allows you to filter certain dishes by selecting vegan, vegetarian, all diets, or gluten free. This site is so full of fascinating and unique recipes! Some of the tastiest recipes I’ve found include: Mac and Cheese Cupcakes, Nutella Caramel Hazelnut Brownies, and Grilled Bruschetta Chicken!

So, if you’ve ever been to a Commercial House show then you know this video doesn’t do the light display justice but those who haven’t will be able to get a general idea of the awesomeness this kind of performance can ensue. The lights are a huge part of any DJ set and Tiesto kicked it up a notch and this past Saturday was a treat to say the least. I had to wear ear plugs because the treble was so high, and the music was still blasting with them in! Just the sight of the crowd was a sight to see, if you didn’t make it to the show or don’t live in the Atlanta area, I highly suggest you check out Tiesto’s schedule and other big House djs because it is an experience you don’t want to miss.
Elle Macpherson, as you all know, has been able to maintain her svelt body image since her peak modeling days. But how? you ask, well we did a little research and found an informative article from Glamour Magazine that tells you how the famous super model stays in shape, and it’s quite easy too!
This is the kind of fitness lifestyle I could definitely adapt to! So easy; just be active for an hour a day to maintain a super hot bod. Done and done. Now all I have to do is actually obtain a super model body 🙂
Since it started getting warm, I find myself fantasizing about riding to work in stiletto heels on a baby blue scooter, scooting around the city without worrying where I am going to park, and completely forgetting about how much gas is going to cost today. I have always loved driving, but since moving to the city, it has become more of a pain in the a$* than an escape or adventure! The streets of Atlanta are very narrow and full of potholes. The drivers don’t know how to stay in their own lanes and are always venturing over into the one next to them for awhile. Oh, and I don’t even need to mention Atlanta Traffic! So, to say the least, I am frustrated, and I envision the scooter being the answer to all of my problems. Plus, it’s gotta be better for your health! A lot more physical activity goes into driving a scooter than a car. Right? And, as a girl, I can not overlook the upside of the possibility of getting a tan while driving to work!
What do you think? I would love to hear anyone’s opinions on owning and driving a scooter in the city. I don’t even know the traffic laws for a scooter. Is it legal to drive through the middle of cars while they are stopped? I always see people doing it, but is it actually legal? What about parking? Is it legal (and more importantly SAFE) to leave your scooter on the sidewalk somewhere? These are the questions that are running through my mind. Someone, please help! 🙂

Hey everyone! Let’s talk about using FIT Radio for purposes other than working out. There are the obvious ones like listening to music while you clean, plugging it into your car stereo while you drive, or listening to it at your desk with headphones while working. If your boss says anything, you can throw back something that one of my bosses told me years ago, listening to techno/house music while working keeps you focused and working faster. I don’t know the source, but I’ve tried it and I know it’s true.
One of my new favorite uses for FIT Radio is playing games. Most games have some sort of soundtrack that, in my opinion, is repetitive, horrible, and get’s turned off immediately. When was the last time you left the music on in Angry Birds? Try breaking down buildings to some Heavy DubStep or make a record breaking Temple Run to some EDM. You reach that point where the music matches the game and you enter that zen state where you can do no wrong. It’ll change your gaming world!
